Spanish park imports dolphins for new facility

By November 28, 2016No Comments

Dolphin_SpainDespite huge opposition to the building of a new dolphinarium at Rancho Texas Park on Lanzarote, Canary Islands, 4 male bottlenose dolphins have recently been imported from Germany to stock the facility.  Diego and Darwin were transported from Duisburg Zoo plus Noah and Kai from Nuremberg.  The four male dolphins, all captive born, will form a bachelor group for the moment, however there are plans to import a further 4 dolphins, which will include females.   Spain has the largest number of dolphinaria in Europe and is out of step with other countries which are moving towards closure of such facilities.
