Kolmarden Zoo roller-coaster permit revoked

By October 27, 2016No Comments

kolmarden-2Marine Connection is delighted to report that the Land & Environment Court in Sweden has revoked the planning permit for the Wildfire roller-coaster at Kolmarden Zoo. This decision was reached mainly due to concerns raised for the impact this would have on the dolphins within the facility, following initial announcement of the plans.  The Court say that Norrköping municipality, who gave permission for the construction, should have taken into account the impact this structure would have on the environment, including wildlife, prior to permits being approved and construction commencing, however this was not done.  The Court’s decision means technically Kolmarden may need to tear down the already constructed roller-coaster as the judgement is not open to appeal, therefore the future of the ride is uncertain.
