Conservation Filmmaking – making a difference to the natural world

By April 3, 2018No Comments

Final Breach_cropMarine Connection is supporting ‘The Final Breach’ a 12-min short documentary to further raise awareness about the Southern Resident Killer Whale population and the struggles they currently face.

Produced and directed by Jess Webster a zoology graduate from UWE Bristol, filming will be carried out over the month of May around Vancouver Island and San Juan Island. Jess will accompany researcher Gary Sutton, who has spent years on the water studying the southern residents and also co-authored the scientific paper, entitled ‘Infanticide in a mammal-eating killer whale population ‘, recently published in the journal, Scientific Reports.

‘The Final Breach’ will be screened in late 2018 to industry professionals, including the BBC Natural History unit, and in 2019 the documentary is planned to be screened at several ocean/marine focused festivals. For all of us who care about killer whales and want to make a difference – this is an important project to support.
