The Dolphin Marine Conservation Park in Coffs Harbour, New South Wales, has been operating for over 50 years and has on public display various marine species including dolphins, penguins and sea turtles. If the facility closes, all of the animals will be rehomed at zoos and aquariums around the country and could see the dolphins being moved to Sea World on the Gold Coast, Queensland, which currently holds over 20 dolphins and would make it the last facility to keep captive dolphins in Australia.
The first creditors meeting will be held in Coffs Harbour on July 31 in the meantime, day-to-day operations will continue as normal during the administration period, so for the animals for now, nothing will change.
