Parques Reunidos, owners of Miami Seaquarium and 59 other parks located in 14 countries across Europe, the Middle East and the Americas, are today looking for a new CEO following the resignation of Fernando Eiroa who has been with the company since 2004. After eight years running Palace Entertainment, the US subsidiary of Parques, he was promoted to CEO in 2015.
Said to have made an extraordinary contribution to the company, it is therefore puzzling why his attention to customer complaints was so lacking. Despite many requests from Marine Connection and Orca Network, Mr Eiroa never responded to any appeals to meet to discuss concerns over Lolita the orca, currently held at Miami Seaquarium in the smallest orca pool in the USA.
Until a replacement is found Richard Golding, currently non-executive Chair of the company will step into the role. It is our sincere hope that Mr Eiroa’s replacement will listen to reason and meet to discuss Lolita’s welfare and future.
