SeaWorld Entertainment has reportedly offered to purchase Cedar Fair, a company with amusement parks, water parks, and other immersive entertainment locations across North America – the latter has confirmed receipt of an unsolicited, non-binding buyout offer from SeaWorld, apparently a whopping $3.5billion!
If successful, a deal would merge SeaWorld’s 12 properties with Cedar Fair’s 27 theme parks, water parks, and hotels, making SeaWorld one of the largest theme park operators in the world. It’s unclear what will take place next, or whether a deal will actually take place but if so, would put SeaWorld’s value at around $6 billion.
Cedar Fair has confirmed that its board will review the proposal. Updates to follow when available.
