The consultation period for public feedback on the new UK review for Standards of Modern Zoo Practice has been extended until 21 June
Since 1993 when the last facility closed in the UK, Marine Connection has been liaising with DEFRA asking for legislation to be brought into force to establish a formal ban on the keeping of cetaceans for public display however, the Minister feels that the UK regulations on keeping these animals confined are sufficient and a ban is not necessary. This being the case, it is vital that we ensure UK standards remain strong.
