When SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment announced they were going to open their first branded park with no captive killer whales in Abu Dhabi, eyebrows were raised on how SeaWorld would still find a way to keep the whales an active part of the new park, without actually having live orca. In 2018 SeaWorld San Diego will launch a new Virtual Reality experience featuring the park’s killer whales. Visitors will be able to virtually go both under and above water with the whales via cutting-edge technology and a headset. It is now thought that a similar VR killer whale visitor experience will be adapted for the new Abu Dhabi park set to open in 2022.
