Marine Connection has joined the End Commercial Whaling Coalition, which is urging the governments of Iceland, Japan, and Norway to uphold the International Whaling Commission (IWC) moratorium.
2026 marks both the 40th anniversary of the commercial whaling moratorium and the 80th anniversary of the IWC. To mark these milestones, the coalition is calling on all IWC contracting governments to state their support for a permanent end to commercial whaling at the Commission’s 70th meeting, which will take place in September 2026. Forty years after the world agreed to protect whales, it is time to finish the job.
