Go ‘Plastic Free’ in July

By July 1, 2020April 2nd, 2021No Comments

Once again, we are supporting the Plastic Free July worldwide campaign.

From today (July 1st), 250 million participants in 177 countries will be taking up the challenge of reducing the amount of single-use plastic in their everyday lives for 30 days.

Plastic is found in all sorts of everyday items – coffee cups, takeaway boxes, disposable cutlery, baby wipes, packaging around fruits and vegetables – it’s seemingly endless. Plastic Free July is about reducing plastic consumption and although not using plastics for a whole month is nigh-on impossible, cutting the amount of plastic you use is a huge step forward in helping to protect our oceans and the hundreds of marine species that call them home.

Worldwide, 1 million plastic drinking bottles are purchased every minute, while up to 5 trillion single-use plastic bags are used every year.  While claiming to be a totally plastic-free person is pretty impossible, this isn’t about perfection, it’s about doing what you can to reduce your plastic consumption – so please ditch those single-use plastics and join Marine Connection in supporting Plastic Free July.

You can do it!  We all can do it! – let’s make a difference.

REMEMBER – in our attempts to reduce plastic consumption, all merchandise in our online shop is ethically sourced and delivered in plastic-free packaging, meaning you can shop knowing your purchase helps fund our work without impacting on the ocean environment.
