Over recent months, Marine Connection has joined many others in having concerns regarding health issues suffered by Tokitae/Lolita, it was therefore encouraging to learn that independent vets were being allowed to assess her condition and give recommendations for her ongoing welfare. It is with some relief, that we read via a release from the Dade County Mayor’s office, that the independent vet assessment undertaken by Dr. Stephanie Norman and Dr. Jim McBain, stated that her health is recovering and that therapy and further diagnostic assessment will be considered once she shows evidence of full recovery from her recent severe illness.

The vets will continue to work alongside MSQ owners and liaise with those who have long campaigned for Tolitae’s retirement, and created the plan to return this tenacious orca to her home waters, in the hope that she can be given the opportunity to eventually return to the area from which she was so cruelly taken in the name of entertainment, all those years ago.
