Protect Our Species Earth Day 22:04:19

Variety_whales (c) Kate VigdisAll living things have an intrinsic value, and each plays a unique role in the complex web of life. We must work together to protect endangered and threatened species, if we do not act now, extinction may be humanity’s most enduring legacy.

The rapid extinction of species in our world today is the result of human activity. In the past 20 years, around 75% of all toothed whale species and 65% of baleen whale species have been affected through bycatch and ghost netting due to fishing operations globally.

But it doesn’t have to continue like this – extinction is not the only option.   If we act now it really is possible to turn the tide.

Each and every one of us can do something to really make a difference to the global threat to all cetaceans by:

  • reducing your use of single-use plastics and approach restaurants and retailers asking them to cut back
  • avoiding products containing microbeads
  • recycling
  • reducing energy consumption
  • making safe, sustainable food choices
  • not purchasing items that threaten marine life
  • be aware of chemicals you use in the home or garden – use non-toxic alternatives
  • spread the word on the dangers of polluting our oceans and the impact this has on cetaceans to friends and family

So this Earth Day, pledge to do at least one of the above or even get active on beach cleanups. Help stop threats to all marine life including cetaceans and their ocean home.

Why not show your support by purchasing an item from our Limited Edition ‘Earth Day 2019’ clothing range from our store, available for Men, Women and Kids!
