Following previous good news from Australia that a ban had been put in place meaning that captive dolphins will no longer be commercially bred or imported into the state of New South Wales, we had hoped that the state of Queensland may follow suit, sadly this has proven not to be.

The only place in Queensland holding captive dolphins (Sea World Gold Coast) is now the only place in the country that will continue breeding dolphins in captivity. The Queensland government has stated that a ban on breeding wasn’t under consideration to stop SeaWorld from producing further dolphin calves, despite currently having over 25 dolphins that perform in shows and interact with tourists in swim with programmes.
