The Whale Bowl – making waves at Superpod 6

By March 19, 2018No Comments

WB@SP6_cropWhen Marine Connection was approached in early 2017 by Emily George regarding a documentary she was directing with fellow film students from Greenwich University in London about Lolita, the orca at Miami Seaquarium, we did not hesitate to give our support.

‘The Whale Bowl’ was released in June 2017 and was met with great reviews.  It has reached an online audience of over 225,000 people and has been screened at film festivals around the world picking up several awards along the way.  BBC Natural History Unit producer Colin Jackson also recently congratulated Emily on a great production – quite a compliment for someone who is just 22 years old!

Marine Connection is delighted to be presenting this moving documentary film at this summer’s Superpod 6 event in Friday Harbor.  This biennial gathering is open to the public and brings together those working in the field of orca conservation and advocacy from around the world.  As this year’s theme is The Blackfish Effect it seemed an ideal opportunity to introduce The Whale Bowl to orca enthusiasts.
