Marine Connection welcomes the news that the largest railway company in the Netherlands, Nederlandse Spoorwegen (NS), is ending its long-standing commercial partnership with Dolfinarium Harderwijk. For many years NS has offered passengers the combination of a train ticket and entry to the Hardewijk facility, however after animal welfare concerns, NS will no longer offer the ticket combination from the end of September 2023.
Species currently on display at the facility include bottlenose dolphins porpoises, walruses and sea lions. It is encouraging that another company has chosen to distance itself from supporting a facility which keeps marine mammals captive.
