We are delighted to report the news that as of 27 March, Jet2 Holidays has agreed to stop selling tickets to marine parks or promoting this to their customers.  Jet2 joins a list of other tour operators who no longer support the keeping of dolphins and whales in captivity for entertainment, it is our sincere hope that others will now follow suit.

Margaux Dodds, captivity director for Marine Connection comments: “This is a very happy day for all involved in all campaigns demanding tour operators and holiday companies end their support for this type of excursion.  The news that Loro Parque, Tenerife and also Mediterraneo Marine Park, Malta will be only two of the many facilities no longer promoted by Jet2 Holidays is very welcome indeed. ”

Last year a letter was sent to Jet2 Holidays on behalf of scientists, conservationists, and several organisations including Marine Connection, urging them to cease all trade with captive facilities. The letter can be read here – and we are delighted that this campaign has had such a positive result.
