Thomas Cook will stop ticket sales to Miami Seaquarium

seaquarium Miami, FloridaFurther to our report yesterday (30 July), Marine Connection has been in contact with Thomas Cook with regards to Miami Seaquarium.

Currently, Thomas Cook offers this as an excursion to customers visiting Miami via a third party website.  Having questioned them on this, we have now received confirmation from the company that, in line with their decision to cease selling excursion tickets to customers for facilities where orcas are displayed, they will indeed be including Miami Seaquarium in this and therefore, cease promotion of/ticket sales to the facility by Summer 2019.   After discussing Lolita’s situation with Thomas Cook again yesterday, they have also now removed Miami Seaquarium from a blog which listed the facility as Number 1 in the Top 10 things to do in Miami.

Of course there is still the question of selling to facilities which house captive dolphins, however, this first step to taking a stand against promoting seeing orcas in captivity is a very welcome first step for the UK’s largest tour operator.
