Update on Honey – the dolphin left alone in a Japanese marine park

By April 16, 2019No Comments

Honey (c) Animal Rights Centre JapanMarine Connection has received confirmation that Inubosaki Marine Park is under new ownership and due to re-open in June of this year.

There were rumours that Honey was going to be moved to China, however, this may have been due to the fact that the new owner of the company is from China, but the company itself is Japanese. For now Honey and the penguins will remain at Inubosaki,  however there is always the possibility with the park being under new ownership, that the situation may change, therefore close monitoring is required and will continue.

Marine Connection campaigns director Margaux Dodds comments “It will be interesting to see if the new owners have plans to move Honey elsewhere or as rumour has it, intend to expand the tank and bring in more dolphins. With the owners being Japanese there is always the possibility that they potentially would look to Taiji as a source for further animals.”
